Character Creation Rules¶
Regarding Character Creation of 5e, 5.5e and Mixed Player Characters¶
Reminder
Use of Weapon Mastery is a 5.5e Class Feature and only available to Classes that gain that feature.
Only 5e¶
If making or running a full 5e character, you may only choose from Frontier legal 5e Character Options (Feats, Class/Subclass Features, etc). 5e only characters may use the Optional Class Features in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything when making a character. However, spells and equipment will be based upon the 5.5e ruleset.
Only 5.5e¶
If making or running a full 5.5e character, you may only choose from any Frontier legal 5.5e Character Options (Feats, Class/Subclass Features, etc).
Mixed Character Options¶
When making a 5.5e character, you may choose a Frontier Legal 5e Subclass or Species to go with your 5.5e Class, unless it has an updated 5.5e version of the same name (see Species and Classes/Subclasses of the Frontier for more). Changes to allow for compatibility must be made and are laid out in the 5.5e Ruleset. Consult a Frontier Guide for review (which may or may not include approval of the player character).
5e Feats and Mixed Characters
5e Feats may not be used with 5.5e material. If a 5e character option lets you choose a feat, mixed characters may choose a general feat from 5.5e.
Transitioning 5e Characters to 5.5e¶
If transitioning a character from 5e to 5.5e, you must transition as much as mechanically possible. If an option is not currently in 5.5e then you may keep using the 5e version of that character option [Character Options mean Subclasses, Feats, Backgrounds, and/or Species]. However some changes may be necessary to keep character cohesion. Keep in mind not all character options, abilities, etc will stay the same when transitioning.
- When transitioning and only when transitioning, you may change the background of your PC to better fit 5.5e ASI restrictions and character vision.
- REMINDER! Transition is not mandatory, however if you choose to transition a character from 5e to 5.5e you must do so as completely as possible.
Multiclassing¶
No Cross-Ruleset Multiclassing
Multiclassing between rulesets is not allowed.
